Kanelos is a wonderful young man who was surrendered to the shelter by his family. According to them, they bought from a breeder as a puppy, and he is a Kritikos Lagonikos / Cretan hound. At 11 months old, they decided that his energy levels were too much for them, and asked if we could find him a more active family. So a very sad for poor Kanelos who suddenly finds himself at our far-from-luxurious shelter having been used to the comforts of a real home.

Kanelos is a social dog, with a lot of great energy! He lived with children in his former family, and has no issue with them, but as he is so bouncy and energetic, we’d recommend him to a family with older kids so that he doesn’t knock them over. For Kanelos, cats are absolutely something to hunt, so he shouldn’t share a space with a cat – on the other hand, other dogs are lots of fun!

Kanelos is the perfect dog for a family with a ‘sporty’ lifestyle and who wants a lively friend to train with and take on all sorts of adventures. As he is probably a Cretan hound, he will likely have a high prey drive so his future family should not expect him to run without lead. Kanelos is still very young – basically just big pup – and will need continued training and patience! Like all young dogs really! But he is a really charming and fun dog, so we hope his stay at the shelter will be a short one and that his forever family is out there.
