Gentle River is another recent arrival at our shelter. As with most of our dogs, we know nothing about her life before she arrived. Our vet estimates that she is about 2 years old, and she is a neat 16 kilos.

River is a friendly young lady, but just a little timid, so we suspect that her life has not been a bed of roses until now. She is affectionate when she gets to know you, and is very good with both other dogs and cats. She has no issues walking on a lead. As River is a little shy, we believe that she is best suited to life outside the city – probably thriving best in a house with a garden. For the same reason, we believe it’s best that the kids in her future family are older and calm – not because we can ever imagine River as being aggressive, but because we believe a quiet environment will bring out the best in her.

Although River is an adult dog, we don’t know if she’s ever lived inside a home. So her future family need to start everything as if she was a pup in terms of toilet training and other basic commands. She is a fantastic dog, with so much potential, and we’re certain that she’ll make the ultimate companion for the right family.
