Please read the Spyros’ text carefully, as he is NOT a dog for first time owners and needs a special home.

This is Spyros, an adorable kokoni type young male who is approximately 3 years old. He has already lived for 1 year at the shelter, and we’re hoping he is ready for the most special and understanding of homes. Spyros was abused by his owner and dumped at the airport. He was about 7 months old at the time. And it took a whole year to manage to catch him.

In the year Spyros has lived with us, he has very slowly and cautiously learned to trust the very regular volunteers and we can cuddle him and take him for walks. With us, he is very affectionate and sweet. But no one else can touch him and it’s likely that he will always be a nervous dog. Of course being alone in a cage at the shelter doesn’t help – that’s why we’re hoping for the ultimate forever family to help him grow.

Spyros’ future family needs to have patience and love in bucket loads, and needs to live very quietly. Spyros cannot live with young kids – he’s very gentle but their noise and spontaneity would terrify him. His future family has to have a VERY secure garden – he WILL try to escape. And for the first months, all walks will need to take place in the garden with a harness. The key to providing Spyros with future happiness is baby steps – and in return we’re sure you’ll see a fantastic transformation. Spyros would enjoy living with a friendly dog who he could lean on and learn from.
