Texas is a very special boy who needs the most experienced of homes. He came to the UK in February at approx 9 months old. Prior to that he lived on the streets as a stray in Greece and after several attempts by volunteers was trapped and taken to the shelter on Lemnos.
In the shelter he was full of energy and it was clear he needed an experienced, active home. We thought we had found that home but sadly it didn’t work out. The trauma of living on the streets, being trapped, the long journey to the UK and then a new home was too much and poor Texas became very agitated and when he was unsure of people he became very reactive.
It was clear Texas was going to need a lot of specialist training and stability. Very kindly Glenn, a friend of the charity and established animal trainer, agreed to take him on. Glenn, with the help of an external behaviourist, has been training Texas tirelessly from his home. With his time and patience Texas has made good progress and is now ready to look for his forever home.
Ideally we are looking for someone in the North East who has experience with reactive dogs who is willing, with Glenn’s help, to continue Texas’ training. He is a very active, intelligent dog who loves to run and work. He can be re-homed with other tolerant dogs, he is currently living with two. Texas now walks well on a lead through people, around town and through the countryside. He would continue to wear a muzzle in public and needs work on his recall. There is no reason that with continued training he couldn’t lead a happy home life. If you would like to give this boy his forever home please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Texas cannot live with children or cats
