Me & my partner Ian went to meet Bonnie, as we were told nobody else had shown interest and that broke our hearts. When we first met Bonnie she was so shy, she wouldn’t come near us and didn’t trust anybody. She had years of pain before us, so why would she?
We instantly knew she had to come and join our family, we already had Ollie at home and knew he could bring her out of her shell, and reassure her.
From the second Bonnie came to us, she became my shadow and best friend. It took longer for her to get close to Ian, but when she did she adored him too, as did he. Bonnie didn’t know this, but we went through years of fertility issues, and she was my rock throughout with unlimited cuddles.
When we had our two little girls, Bonnie was like a second mum. She was so patient, protective and loved the added bonus of the snacks they gave her. Bonnie was there for every night feed, and every 5am wake up she would come downstairs with me at all times.
We knew the day would come, but Bonnie left us really quickly and it broken so many hearts. We miss everything about you, but I miss your cuddles, I miss the way you wait for me outside the bathroom and I miss seeing your beautiful face.
As a family, we will never forget you. You are back at home with us now, in our lounge where you belong. Our girls mention you most days, and to ease their pain we told them ‘you are in the sky’ so we look out the window for you some days and chat about you.
